There are infinite atmospheric worlds available on Bandcamp. From the dreamy to the nightmarish, and the meditative to the deeply unsettling, these compositions often fall under the ambient umbrella. Albums without words that are deeply thoughtful and thought-provoking in their own way—these releases come from all corners of the globe. In this edition, there’s music that declares the powerful message of “no fences,” physics-inspired ambient, and chill-inducing crow caws.

Accident du Travail, boucles

Though their first record together came out in 2009, it wasn’t until December 2014 that Julie Normal and Olivier Demeaux, aka Accident du Travail, worked together again. The duo went to Strasbourg to record melancholic, intricate ambient and drone pieces for The Trilogy Tapes. Now based in Carrickmacross, Ireland, their newest, which was recorded there, is called boucles. The faint tape hiss that appears throughout boucles is relaxing, like the wind gently blowing on a cloudy day. “CLAIRE (outro)” is the standout here, a gentle ambient wash with a bleeping loop that plays well against tranquil key progressions.
